Who Needs Removable Dentures?
Removable dentures, also known as false teeth or fake teeth, are designed for those missing several teeth, up to their entire set of teeth. Patients may lose teeth for a number of reasons, including oral disease, decay, and injury or trauma. We make both partial and complete custom-made dentures for fully-restored smiles!
What are Partial and Complete Dentures?
Dr. Biedermann and her team offer two types of dentures: complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of a patient's teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain. A partial denture not only fills in the spaces created by missing teeth, but also prevents the remaining teeth from shifting out of place.
A complete denture can be either conventional or “mmediate. A conventional denture is made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed, usually after about 4-6 weeks. Immediate dentures are made in advance and immediately placed after the teeth are removed, preventing the patient from having to be without teeth during the healing process. Our dentist will make any necessary adjustments to your dentures once the affected tissues have healed.
Are Dentures Right for Me?
- Complete Denture – Loss of all teeth in an arch
- Partial Denture – Loss of several teeth in an arch
- Enhancing smile and facial tissues
- Improving chewing, speech, and digestion
How Does Getting Dentures Work?
The process of receiving dentures from our Keller dental office requires several appointments, usually over a period of several weeks. Highly accurate impressions (molds) and measurements are taken and used to create your custom denture. Several “try-on” appointments may be necessary to ensure proper shape, color, and fit. At the final appointment, your dentist will precisely adjust and place the completed denture, ensuring natural and comfortable fit.
You will be given care instructions for your new dentures. Proper cleaning of your new dental appliance, good oral hygiene, and regular dental visits will aid in extending the life of your new dentures.
